It's easy to have caring, present "friends" when you have priceless wealth and no heir.
Well aware of this, Goffredo Volpone (nomen omen) decides to play with the hopes of his three "closest friends", as well as claimants to the succession: Tommaso Voltore , a shipowner and real estate developer married to a rich woman of a family and under the control of a father-in-law. Volpone's business rival; Salvo Corvino , husband of a woman involved in politics and who continually distances herself from the aims of her consort; Antonio Corbaccio , an art collector crushed by an authoritarian wife who constantly prods him to try to prevail over the two rivals.

Filled with pandering concern for their friend, the three fight against each other with rapacious instinct and Volpone, cynical and ruthless, turns this attention into further gain. The new Moscow waiter will then give him support , following the advice of the housekeeper Caterina and tickled in turn by the possibility of being remembered in the will, will give an unexpected turn to Volpone's plans, revealing himself a valid accomplice to keep the three more and more in hand.

Moreover, no one is exempt from the temptation to grab such a patrimony, not even the priest who intervened to give him extreme unction.  The surprise arrival of the notary with his secretary will give further impetus to the greed of the three friends.

“He has what he deserves whoever loses his own to grab someone else” said Phaedrus (Caius Iulius Phaedrus - ca. 20/15 BC - ca. 51 AD), demonstrating that certain dynamics are controlled by a primal instinct.

A quote from the legendary Peter Sellers could effectively sum up the moral of the comedy:

"People will swim in shit if you put a little shillings in it."

In this production La Compagnia Teatro della Mandarina is at the first collaboration with Note Free , which has taken care of the live musical accompaniment.
For the occasion the musician  Alessando Sabatini wrote and directed the original music, performed by the Ensemble composed by  Federico Orazi , Elisabetta Tetti , Francesco Enrico , Mario Mariottini  to violins,  Enrico Sabatini with violets,  Domenico Milani  to the cello,  Emanuela Rosati on flute e  Carlo Chiapperi on clarinet.
